The nature of the Internet affords us the ability to choose aliases and personas to project a character onto while we post online. Sometime in 2013-2014, I watched a film called The Phantom Tollbooth (1970, Chuck Jones) , and felt a connection with the character Dr. Kakofonous A. Dischord, voiced by Cliff Norton. Dr. Dischord, in the film, is a Doctor of Dissonance, who cures one of pleasant sounds. The entirety of the good doctor’s screen time is available to see in this four and a half minute video:
Kakofonous A. Dischord almost immediately became my newest pseudonym. I had only made an early version of my first album, Rotten Fruit from the Orchard, at that point. I had already switched from my first pseudonym, raitosaikuru, to EVoL_InTheory, my then tumblr url. After some time, I stopped using the 5 separate pseudonyms and stuck with Kakofonous A. Dischord, which most people abreviate to “Kako”. As Kakofonous A. Dischord, I began making experimental music for all sorts of projects, most frequently Pinkamena Party. With my involvement in Pinkamena Party, I gained small amounts of noteriety within the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic fan music scene. After some minor work within the Vaporwave music scene, I began a weblabel to encourage experimental music in the MLP music scene called noise.horse.
More recently, I began to use the name Evoline Theory as a more personal alias, slightly detached from my work as Kakofonous. As of writing, I have made over 160 music releases across all my aliases. I am working hard to cultivate a unique cinematic sound, inspired by the likes of Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross, Ludwig Göransson, Emma Essex, Death Grips, Gorillaz, and many more.
Besides my work as a musician, I am a game developer. In 2017, I graduated college with an Associates Degree of Applied Science in Game Design and Development. While I have not applied that knowledge beyond a small project or two, I am working towards changing that here in the relative future.
